Curriculum Design & Development

Scrollable content for nursing students

Information Architecture is a major cornerstone in learning design, not to mention storyboarding and multimedia development. This eLearning widget began its journey at that very juncture. When you’re handed curated curriculum the question still remains, what is the right modality to be used for presentation of the material? My first question to any SME is “What should the learner be able to do once they have taken in the learning? How do we know that our online course is successful?”

Answering these questions as well as others resulted in the creation of this microlearning module. The cognitive domains and associated behaviors expected from interactions with this content align with the Knowledge & Understanding domain.

Roles I played during this project:

  • eLearning Developer
  • LMS administrator

PowerPoint Design for Onboarding

An onboarding program in today’s world must be a blended learning experience, one that is learner-inclusive and designed for the human experience. We’ve all joked about “death by PowerPoint,” however PowerPoint remains a standard in the learning industry for many reasons.

When someone gives you an unbranded, text heavy PowerPoint meant to onboard students and provide them with a basic level of knowledge, consider the creative ways to communicate the content! Herein you will see a PowerPoint that has been brought to life using Storyline 360 in its most basic form. Once students complete this introduction, they navigate to a discussion board where they are prompted to introduce themselves to others in the online course.

Roles I played in this project:

  • Technology Advisor
  • Instructional Designer
  • Graphic Designer
  • LMS Administrator

Microlearning Activity

Activity for Navigating Parts of the Brain

Clicking does not imply learning and the use of technology can sometimes derail the development of curriculum. However when your SMEs are open to a quick and easy activity as a component to a blended learning solution, it can result in a fun and enjoyable way to ingest content. This microlearning activity is meant to help learners with recognition of parts of the brain, and build their awareness of the function of that part.

Roles I played during this project:

  • Curriculum Evaluator
  • Quality Matters Administrator
  • Web & Graphic Designer

Curriculum Creation: Telescopes

Girl Scouts Logo

Exciting Opportunity in the Works. In 2024 I will be kicking off a new project where I will be creating curriculum for the use of telescopes for the Girl Scouts of America. As an avid telescope user, novice astronomer, and Manager of Community Outreach for Telescopes, I want to share my passion for the celestial skies and teach others how to navigate them.

I will be working with other board members turned-SMEs to develop learning outcomes, create and design content, and ultimately deliver in-person lectures on navigating the night skies using a star chart. I am very excited to teach this curriculum with the use of telescopes and binoculars! Please check back for periodic updates as this project kicks off.

Roles I will play during this project:

  • Project Manager
  • Curriculum Developer
  • Instructional Designer
